Fishing the Huallaga river
Those who wish to skip the hike and go fishing will remain on the boat for another 30 minute ride up river to a very popular fishing spot on the Huallaga. During the months of June to August, fishermen from all over the country come to this spot to fish because of the migration that takes place during this time. Huge catches are normal this period, but even during the other 9 months the fishing is good.
There is water all over the place, in fact many of the names in this area have the word yacu in it, which means water. There are large powerful rivers, small rivers, streams, lakes, waterfalls and natural pools .... and fish is abundant in all of them.
Besides all of this, there are fish right in front of you at the Maloca. You can observe them, feed them or even fish them. There are Piranhas, Pacos, Telipias, Paiches, and Bocachicas.
