Kuntur Journeys, how to get to Tarapoto

Entry point is Tarapoto, which is about a 1:10 hour flight from Lima. There are 3-4 flights daily between Lima and Tarapoto. We recommend LAN or Star Peru airlines to buy your tickets to and from Tarapoto.

Tarapoto Airport Pick up
From the airport Kuntur Journeys will pick you up and it takes 1 hour and 20 minutes for the drive to Chasuta. Chasuta is in the Department San Martin and the Province of San Martin where Tarapoto is its largest city. This is a virgin area for tourism and we have exclusivity for the area of Llucanayacu.

From Chasuta we take a scenic 15 minutes river trip by boat to the Maloca Lodge & park.

 

Maloca Lodge
The Maloca lodge & park at Llucanayacu is situated about 10 kilometers downriver from Chusuta, a river settlement on the Huallaga river. This river extends further up north towards Iquitos where it flows into the Amazon river.
