About Kuntur journeys

This company is based on a long friendship with the Chancas of Llucanayacu, which results in a win-win situation for everyone (rainforest, natives, tourists and Kuntur Journeys).

We are dedicated to the discovery of new alternative tourist opportunities – reaching for exploratory interactive human experiences that are in harmony with nature and Mother Earth’s natural environment.

We are an organization that work with the Chancas of Llucanayacu who themselves are dedicated to not only preserving the culture of their ancestors, but also to continued living in balanced harmony with their environment.

We invite tourists to enter this Lost World, with exclusive and authentic experiences in a unique environment, while at the same time stimulating the area economically with employment. It is also our goal, as an organization, to preserve this magnificent jungle together with the full participation of the Natives in the region.

Kuntur Journeys actively co0perates on projects with local authorities, companies and private persons in order to protect and reforest the rainforest in this area.

We painfully see that there are foreign elements that are hiring natives whose sole economic income is tied inexorably to the deforestation of the Amazon. The international treaties and governmental laws do not help. People in this area are simply cutting the forest away for financial gain, and no one stops them.

Less forests means less rain, and we already notice this. Less rain means that the people of the area will eventually have to leave, as the area will no longer be able to support them.

At the moment some natives are finding work helping the destroyers of the rainforest. The goal of our initiative is to create better, more sustainable opportunities to make a living by means of eco-tourism.

WHAT WE ARE NOT:

We are not a company that will exploit or damage the area or the local people in any way.

We do not accept that visitors will take souvenirs in the form of animals, parts of animals, or endangered plants even though it may offered by the locals.

We will not accept more tourists than is comfortable for the natives, or more than the centre can properly handle.

Persons that offend the natives or disrespect the rainforest will be asked to leave at their own expense.
